The Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Network (SouthernDefenders) will host the 2024 Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Summit from 25-26 November 2024 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The summit will bring together human rights defenders (HRDs), civil society organisations (CSOs), grassroots movements, representatives of National Human Rights Institutions as well as government officials from Southern Africa reflect on strategies and pathways to bolster the role of human rights defenders in promoting citizen-responsive accountable governance in the region.
